In the Community

Kula is the Sanskrit word for community. At Blue Tree Yoga the concept of kula is as important inside the studio as it is outside our doors. In fact, we love to support our community! Giving back to all of the wonderful organizations that make our city such a great place is a major part of our mission.

To support our community we offer thousands of dollars of free yoga classes to organizations to use in auctions or as give-aways to donors each year. We also hold several special community classes throughout the week at a discounted rate (just $5 a class!) so that everyone can afford to receive the benefits of a regular yoga practice. Our Recovery Yoga class is donation-based and specially designed for the unique needs of people working through twelve step programs.

Blue Tree Yoga offers donation based classes at New Living Details and schedule of classes are available here. Yoga powered by generosity – no set pricing, cash or check only at this location.

In addition, Blue Tree Yoga has an active Seva program through which our teachers and students volunteer in community projects and/or raise money for community organizations. The founders have spent much of their time volunteering in leadership roles for various organizations such as MD Anderson, Texas Yoga Association, The Yoga Teachers Association of Houston, Breathe the Cure, and Yoga Alliance.
