vinyasa yoga and music

Yoga refers to traditional physical and mental discipline which originated in India. The practice of yoga involves placing the body in a series of postures while controlling the breathing to best oxygenate the body. Most of the postures require balance, flexibility, strength and breath control. The goal of yoga may range from improved health to reaching spiritual peace through yoga mental disciplines using breath.

There are many forms of yoga. The form we primarily teach at Jennyoga is Vinyasa. Vinyasa is defined as a string of postures linked together, where the student flows from one posture to another without stopping in between, and is linked with a corresponding breath - an inhale or an exhale.

Vinyasa Yoga is the fusion of conscious breath with flowing asana. Through fluid movement and concentration, Yoga facilitates the unification of body and mind; mind and heart; heart and spirit. The goal is to promote wellness. Jennyoga employs this technique called Psychesynergy, which is a holistic approach to health and healing.

Central to the Vinyasa classes at Jennyoga is sound, not only the all- important sounds of breath and voice, but also music. Through music, our instructors introduce the sounds and vibrations that prompt the student's flow of rhythmic movement and to promote in the body-consciousness - an often long-awaited shift. To mark the most joyous occasions of family and to enhance the most celebrated events in life, humans use music - it's just more fun this way. Instrument and song combined with the countless benefits of yoga...priceless!

Beautiful music or an old favorite song always stirs an emotion, sometimes mild ambivalence, other times poignant feelings. We believe that your highest potential can be cultivated through these feelings. By allowing the vibrations to help release the trapped energy stored in the body, often held as old perpetual emotions, you will make space for the inevitable transformation inherently found in Yoga practice.

The physical benefits of yoga are improved strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. The mental and emotional benefits of yoga include a sense of well-being, calmness, focus, and increased moments of bliss or happiness. You simply find that you are smiling more often than you are not.
